The casting for The Maze Runner movie was perfect, pat on the back to the casting director. Having I just finished the trilogy (and started The Kill Order), I thought I should get some fancasting out of the way. I am actually pretty proud of myself for this one. This is only for the new characters, I won't be including TMR characters because like I said, the actors casted are perfect. I will try to not put any spoilers in here, but I'm sorry if one slips through on accident. Otherwise, enjoy!
Ralph Fiennes as Rat Man/Janson
I'm 100% sure everyone hated "Rat Man" in both books, especially Death Cure. One reason I love Fiennes is because can become the creepiest actor ever, but he can also be very persuading. Just like "Rat Man". He may look somewhat familiar, because he played the evil, creepy, and persuading Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter.
Benjamin Stone as Aris
I always pictured Aris very slender and somewhat feminine looking. Probably because he was from Group B. I'd never heard of Benjamin Stone until I was scouting through IMDb, but the second I saw his face I knew he was Aris.
Lyndsy Fonseca as Brenda
The picture o the left that I chose to use isn't the best choice, but if you go scout Fonseca's IMDb profile, you will see why I chose her. While reading I remembered her role in Nikita and then I started imagining her as Brenda. Only problem is that I imagined Brenda with red hair (that is what hair dye is for though, right?), She might be a little bit too old, but Brenda's age was never set in either books, so she might just work.
Lupita Nyong'o as Harriet
Harriet from Group B didn't have a major part, but I think she had enough of one to be in the movie. No doubt, Harriet was named after Harriet Tubman, indicating she had an African American descent. After Nyong'o's amazing performance in 12 Years a Slave, Harriet would be a walk in the park for her.
Ramon Rodriguez as Jorge
Finding the perfect Jorge was super hard for me considering the person I imagined was just a face produced by my brain (or I guess you could say my killzone). Jorge definitely had a Hispanic descent, you could tell from his name and the Spanglish he used sometimes. I chose several different actors that were along the lines of mystery man, and Rodriguez was the closest I got. But now that I think about it, he would play a pretty amazing Jorge.
Robbie Coltrane as Vince
Whenever I see Robbi Coltrane, I think of lovable Hagrid. When I was scrolling through IMDb trying to find a good Vince (leader of the Right Arm) he stood out. He is approaching 64, and that may be a little bit too old. Otherwise, I am overall happy with him as Vince.
Stephen Amell as Lawrence
Lawrence is definitely one of my favorite characters from Death Cure for honestly no good reason. Maybe it was the was James Dashner presented him. He stood out as a tough "warrior" in his late twenties. I can't remember where I have seen Stephen Amell before (because I know I have), but he seems like a pretty good Lawrence.
John Hurt as Hans
I don't have much to say about this casting, other than it was really hard. Hurt is approaching 84 which is very old, but his IMDb profile says he is still acting. He has that soft but scarred look that I imagined Hans having. He also looks like a nice grandpa, so I like him.
Each of these actors/actresses have an IMDb profile (that is how I found them) that I suggest you check out for more pictures. The thumbnails I chose aren't the best ones for the character I chose as. I have several new blog posts coming up for you that I am super excited about. I will also be going on a small vacation and then a road trip, so I will have loads of time for reading.
